Vancouver FC has done it again, securing a player on the CPL Team of the Week and this time it is defender Ibrahim Bakare. So far this season, VFC has had at least one player named to the weekly best XI, a feat that only one other CPL team has been able to achieve in 2023 (Valour FC).

For Bakare, this is his second CPL Team of the Week honour, previously being noted in Week #2. The defender was also named Performance of the Match for Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Cavalry FC on his 21st birthday.
Bakare had an astonishing performance at VFC’s inaugural home, managing the backline and helping the team grab one point after going down to 10 men for 60-plus minutes. The Englishman registered 15 ground duels won, 8 clearances, 7 tackles, 2 blocked shots and a 100% dribble completion (4 attempted).
VFC will play at Willoughby Park again this Saturday against Atlético Ottawa, looking to register the club’s first home victory. If you want to be part of this historic season get your tickets here.
