Vancouver FC quickly got back on their feet and claimed a valuable point on the road against Forge FC last Friday. Additionally, VFC registered their first clean sheet in club history with both fullbacks, Minjae Kwak and Tyler Crawford, playing an essential role in the achievement. Both defenders’ efforts were rewarded with their first appearances in the CPL Team of the Week, which brings Vancouver FC’s overall total to nine different players who have received this honour.

Kwak made his second CPL start of the season, previously making the starting XI in week 1 against Pacific FC, after head coach Afshin Ghotbi made some changes to the expected lineup. The Korean defender won nine of 15 duels, made five tackles and had eight clearances against the league leaders.
On the other flank, Crawford continued to prove that he could become one of the best defenders in the league. The 19-year-old left-back came out victorious in five of his six duels contested and made five interceptions.
Getting a point away from home against the reigning champions was a result that helped to regain some confidence in the Vancouver squad. The team returns home hoping to carry on the positive inertia and get their first victory at Willoughby Park when they face Valour FC this Sunday.
