Bitar Earns a Place in CPL Team of the Week for Matchweek 19

Vancouver FC had yet another historic match against their provincial rivals, Pacific FC, this last weekend by claiming their first victory against the Island team. The 3-2 comeback win was undoubtedly a team effort but there was one VFC player in particular that stepped up to the plate to secure the three points: Gabriel Bitar. His off-the-bench brace awarded him both Performance of the Match and his second Team of the Week honors this season.

Bitar was substituted into VFC’s match in the 74th minute when Vancouver was trailing 1-2 and made an immediate impact by scoring the equalizing goal just two minutes later. The forward would double down in the 87th minute scoring the game-winning goal unassisted and become the first player in VFC history to register a brace. Bitar’s two goals came off just two shots for a perfect shooting percentage in the match.

Bitar previously made the CPL Team of the Week honors in Week 2 after VFC got their first franchise win over York United where the 24-year-old won the penalty that led to VFC’s game-winning goal.

Vancouver FC will try to continue the good results as they host the defending champions, Forge FC, on September 3rd. Tickets can be purchased through this link or at Gate 1 of the Langley Events Centre.
