James Cameron receives first CPL TOTW honours

Vancouver FC registered their first point in three games after holding Valour FC to a 0-0 draw on Sunday night. Another positive outcome of the game was the performance of James Cameron who received the Gatorade Performance of the Match and has subsequently been giving his first CPL Team of the Week honours for Week 17.

The 18-year-old was matched against the lightning quick Pacifique Niyongabire and was able to defend the left flank against VAL’s attacks. Sunday was Cameron’s ninth consecutive start for Vancouver and his third since signing a full contract with the BC team on July 20th.

The young up-and-coming star is the 14th unique Vancouver FC player to be recognized by the CPL for TOTW and is the first since Rocco Romeo and Miki Cantave made the list in Week 13.

Vancouver FC heads out for a one-match road trip to Halifax before returning to Willoughby Park on Saturday, August 19th. The team will take on Pacific FC for their BC Proud match to celebrate the 2SLGBTQAI+ community.
