Vancouver FC’s historic signing continues to etch his name into the Canadian Premier League history books. TJ Tahid has been named to the CPL Team of the Week (TOTW) for his performance in the Week 8 match against Pacific FC. This is the 16-year-old’s first nomination in the weekly best XI and is the youngest player to receive the honour since the creation of TOTW two years ago.
Tahid made history on Friday night when he scored his first professional goal in added time of the first half. With the goal, the Maple Ridge native became the youngest CPL goal scorer at 16 years and 34 days old. The young “Starboy” came into the league as a record setter by first being the youngest player signing in the CPL on May 6th. He then became the youngest player to register CPL minutes when he was substituted on in the 81st minute of VFC’s inaugural home opener on May 7th.

Friday was Tahid’s second career start and fourth appearance with Vancouver FC. The forward has collected 154 minutes so far this season and holds a perfect shooting percentage, converting his one shot on target into a goal.
