In a significant move for Vancouver FC, the club has signed 17-year-old attacking midfielder Kevin Podgorni from Mississauga, Ontario through 2026 with options for 2027 and 2028. Kevin has been a standout talent at Prostars FC in Ontario, playing through their youth teams up to their League1 Ontario U-20 reserve squad. Kevin’s adaptable attacking skills can lend himself in multiple positions adding versatility to Vancouver FC’s offensive options, having experience playing as an attacking midfielder, false nine, and winger.
Kevin was particularly drawn to Vancouver FC after witnessing the club’s commitment to advancing young talent, exemplified by the recent transfer of Grady McDonnell to Club Brugge. “I wanted to be at a proven club that moves on young, developing players,” Kevin explains. “Vancouver FC does what they say, and I loved that about this club. Seeing Grady take that next step showed me that this is a place where young players can grow and make it to the next level.”

As he embarks on his professional journey, Kevin has set clear objectives: “My goals and aspirations for the upcoming season are to make my professional debut and to score my first professional goal. And a more long-term goal for me is to eventually get sold to a European market.”
Despite the demands of professional soccer, Podgorni is already feeling at home with his new club. “Overall, I’m having a great time learning more about my teammates and coaches,” he says with a smile. “As a team, we spend a lot of time with each other, whether it’s at the facility, traveling to away games, or even at our team bonding events. When you spend that much time with a group of players and staff, you learn more about each other every day.”

Off the field, Kevin’s passion for soccer is evident. A devoted Chelsea fan, he draws inspiration from the club’s attacking style and rich history. As the new season approaches, Kevin’s excitement is matched by the club’s supporters, eager to see fresh talent make its mark.
